| Trip Planning & Organization
1. Planning Your Hunt: Unquestionably the most important step, and should be the most interesting as well. The anticipation and excitement created in "Hunt Planning" sessions and meetings can keep a person motivated for months at home and on the job in an otherwise routine existence. 2. Scout It Out: "Never Assume Anything". Travel arrangements, guide or outfitter qualifications and reputation, area to be hunted (maps), equipment need and its condition, information and hunting techniques on the game you are hunting, all must be researched thoroughly. 3. Are You Ready?: Leave home with a blessing, not a cursing. Emotional stress will ruin an otherwise totally successful hunt. Physical conditioning and complete confidence in your weapon of choice and your ability to use it at the moment of truth (practice lots) is also very important. 4. Have Realistic Expectations: In fair chase hunting a guide and outfitters average success over several years can give you indication of possible chances of harvesting your trophy. No one can control Mother Nature and the effects she may have on the animal movements at the time of your hunt. You can, however, expect the service and effort promised by your guide or outfitter. 5. Go For It: If you have accomplished the first 4 tips you could easily be on your way to your hunting adventure of a lifetime. At the very least if you are in the good company of family and/or hunting buddies you will return stocked full on new wilderness experiences to be treasured and shared for years to come. All the best in your hunting adventures, Rob Brodhagen |
